Sailor Bar Wildfire Burns North of Yale, B.C., Prompts Evacuation Alerts

The Sailor Bar wildfire was discovered Saturday seven kilometres north of Yale, British Columbia, burning east of Highway 1 near the CN Rail line in Fraser Canyon.
B.C. Wildfire Service said the blaze was out of control and thought to be human-caused, classifying it as a Rank 2 fire intensity with visible open flame and slow spread.
Crews worked overnight using a helicopter equipped with night vision, and BCWS shared a video showing how firefighters use this technology on scene.
The Fraser Valley Regional District issued an evacuation alert from south of Yale to Spuzzum, CN Rail closed tracks, and drivers are warned that heavy smoke is visible from Highway 1, though the highway remains open.
Multiple aviation and ground resources are en route to combat the Fraser Canyon wildfire, while the fine particulate matter warning is expected to last through Monday .
