Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection can cause cancers of the cervix, penis, external female genitalia, vagina, anus and oropharynx, as well as genital warts and recurrent laryngeal papillomas in both women and men. Experts warn that HPV vaccination can significantly reduce the incidence of these cancers, so timely vaccination at a young age is crucial to protecting girls and boys.
"People still think that maybe something they get after a natural infection will strengthen the immune system. But that's not the case with HPV," pediatrician Denis Baš warned about vaccinating adolescents against the human papillomavirus.
