German media are reporting the death of a ten-year-old boy who died of diphtheria despite months of treatment. According to health authorities, the boy from Brandenburg had not been vaccinated against diphtheria. Later, another person in the boy's immediate family was diagnosed with diphtheria, but he had been vaccinated and had a mild case of the disease. The last death from diphtheria in Germany was in 1997.

Nemški mediji poročajo o smrti desetletnega dečka, ki je kljub večmesečnemu zdravljenju umrl za davico. Po navedbah pristojnih zdravstvenih oblasti deček iz Brandenburga proti davici ni bil cepljen. Kasneje so primer davice ugotovili še pri enem človeku v dečkovem ožjem družinskem krogu, ki pa je bil cepljen in prebolel blago obliko bolezni. Zadnji primer smrti zaradi davice so v Nemčiji zabeležili leta 1997.
