Haverford College Professor Charged with Online Harassment and Intimidation
Authorities say Guangtian Ha sent about 50 threatening messages from four social media accounts, leading to harassment and intimidation charges.
- Haverford College professor Guangtian Ha was arrested Tuesday and charged with harassment and intimidation after allegedly sending approximately 50 antisemitic messages to a victim between October 2025 and May 2026, according to court documents filed in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
- Prosecutors allege Ha used virtual private networks to obfuscate his internet protocol address while sending messages containing references to "heil Hitler" and threats that "the Jewish state will stop existing, whether you like it or not."
- Haverford College President Wendy Raymond placed the professor on administrative leave and barred him from campus, stating "I am heartbroken and furious at the possibility that an individual within our community would seek to inflict such pain on another."
- The timing is particularly distressing given proximity to the Jewish High Holidays and the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks, compounding harm for many in the community.
- Campus Safety, the Haverford Township Police Department, and the FBI assisted in the investigation, while the college made counseling and spiritual care resources available to affected students and staff.
