Harvey Weinstein In Hospital Following “Severe Breathing Issues”
The 74-year-old remains under treatment after difficulty breathing and pneumonia led to a heart failure episode, sources said.
Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was hospitalized this week after experiencing acute heart failure while incarcerated, and he is currently undergoing treatment at the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward in Manhattan.
Sources reported that Weinstein suffered heart failure linked to pneumonia, following struggles to breathe two weeks ago that prompted his emergency transfer from the New York prison.
The 74-year-old was previously diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia, a bone marrow cancer, while his legal team has condemned what they described as "deplorable and inhumane conditions" at Rikers.
Remaining in the hospital ward, Weinstein is connected to a heart monitor and receiving antibiotics; sources state he has substantially recovered but is "not out of the woods."
He awaits sentencing for his 2025 sexual assault conviction while already serving a 16-year sentence handed down in Los Angeles in 2022 following a separate rape conviction.
