Roger Waters Labels Ed Sheeran a "Prick" Amid Palestine Row
Roger Waters backed Macklemore and said Sheeran was wrong after the rapper was dropped from the tour, prompting more artists to withdraw.
On Tuesday, September 15, singer Sheeran addressed Macklemore's removal from his North American tour, stating the promoter made the decision after venues refused to host shows if the rapper remained on the bill.
Macklemore was axed following performances in New Jersey on September 4 and 5, where he declared "Free Palestine," after Messina Touring Group confirmed multiple venues would not allow the tour to proceed with the rapper.
In a video message, Roger Waters branded Sheeran a "PRICK," while artists including Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham, and Beoga withdrew from upcoming dates in solidarity with Palestine.
Robert Kraft, whose organization owns Gillette Stadium, defended blocking Macklemore's performance at the September 25 and 26 shows, stating the venue would not provide a platform for hate speech.
Sheeran's tour is scheduled to resume on September 19 at Lincoln Financial Field, while actor Hannah Einbinder mocked his reported $400 million net worth in a viral social media post.
