7-Year-Old Boy Found Dead After Going Missing in Hamilton Conservation Area on Canada Day
Police have set up a command post and released his description as officers search the area and ask anyone with information to call 905-546-3886.
On Thursday, the Hamilton Police Service confirmed the death of 7-year-old Nathanael Selambi, who went missing from the Binbrook Conservation Area on Canada Day.
Nathanael disappeared Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m. while playing on the beach near the floating inflatable playground at 5050 Harrison Road.
Described as four feet tall with a skinny build, he wore a white tank top with Thomas the Tank Engine pictures and green shorts with swim goggles.
Mayor Andrea Horwath said she was "heartbroken" to learn of the boy's death and extended condolences to his family, loved ones and classmates.
The conservation area remains closed today as investigators confirmed they do not suspect foul play; a separate incident during the search involved a capsized kayaker who died in hospital.
