Half of Gen Zs have started their own business
The AXA UK poll found 63% of founders are confident their business will survive five years, while 17% first tested ideas with artificial intelligence.
A OnePoll survey of 2,000 adults revealed half of Gen Z have started their own businesses, with professional flexibility as the primary motivator for entrepreneurs aged 18 to 29.
In contrast to Gen Z, just 29 per cent of Boomers and 26 per cent of Generation X have branched out independently, while 18 per cent of young entrepreneurs pursue personal dreams and 12 per cent aim to help the planet.
Mentors Izzy Obeng and Raphael Sofoluke found 35 per cent of aspiring entrepreneurs would consider partnering with friends or family, with 31 per cent citing the appeal of building something meaningful together.
Entrepreneurs are increasingly turning to AI, with 17 per cent testing ideas before consulting friends and 43 per cent relying on it to keep secrets; the AXA Startup Angel competition offers winners £25,000 to launch ventures.
Managing Director at AXA Insurance UK Commercial Mike Crane said, "Running your own business can be tough," though 63 per cent of founders remain confident their ventures will survive the next five years.
