A Haitian man living in Massachusetts and seeking asylum died while in federal custody after being detained in September by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. Emmanuel Damas, 56, died on Monday after a toothache went untreated, his brother, Presly Nelson, told The Associated Press. Federal lawmakers from Massachusetts confirmed Damas lived in the state and called on ICE to be held accountable.
