Gwyneth Paltrow 'lost touch with the world of cinema' until Marty Supreme
Paltrow, 53, ended a six-year acting hiatus with Marty Supreme, a 1950s New York drama featuring intimate scenes and praised collaboration with director Josh Safdie.
- At a Jan. 9 Q&A in Santa Monica, Gwyneth Paltrow said Marty Supreme unexpectedly rekindled her love for acting, marking her first major role in six years.
- After stepping back from acting, Gwyneth Paltrow focused on parenthood and building Goop, and she said she never regretted stepping away to pursue that entrepreneurial chapter.
- During the Q&A, Paltrow described filming intimate scenes with Timothée Chalamet, 30, saying `He was 27 or 28, and I was 50-whatever, and, I mean, it's weird`, and noted her son Moses was mortified at the premiere, `He wanted to die`.
- Timing with an empty nest helped Paltrow decide to take Marty Supreme, and she said she will only star in more films if the projects are really special and worthwhile like Marty Supreme.
- Publicity for the film has included photos of Paltrow and Chalamet making out in Central Park in October 2024 and December 2025, and Marty Supreme is in theaters now.
