Officials say the school will be removed in stages, while modular classrooms and a new replacement campus are being prepared for students.
- Work to dismantle Tumbler Ridge Secondary School began this week, with the Peace River South school district expecting completion by fall.
- The facility was one of two sites in a Feb. 10 mass shooting where nine people died, including five students and a 39-year-old educator; 27 others were injured at the school.
- Officials with the School District say the building "will be carefully dismantled in stages, rather than using more disruptive methods", with materials removed in covered trucks to regional landfills.
- Federal and provincial governments pledged $200 million toward a new school, while students will move into the modular Kodiak Campus later this month.
- Attorney General Niki Sharma continues legal efforts regarding OpenAI as police investigations into the February shooting remain ongoing, with architects to be selected in coming weeks.
