Guns N' Roses issue statement on Axl Rose's recent on-stage meltdown in Buenos Aires and new drummer Isaac Carpenter
Axl Rose's frustration during the opening song was due to a faulty in-ear monitor hearing only percussion, not related to new drummer Isaac Carpenter, the band said.
- Last Saturday , Axl Rose, Guns N' Roses frontman, stormed off stage during 'Welcome to the Jungle' at Estadio Huracán, after an onstage outburst widely shared on video.
- Explaining the incident, Guns N' Roses' Instagram Story said Axl Rose's in-ear monitor pack sent only percussion to his ears rather than the full mix.
- The band defended its new drummer, saying the episode had nothing to do with Isaac Carpenter's playing after he joined following Frank Ferrer's exit in March.
- The technical fault was resolved by the band's technician by the third song, and fan-filmed footage shows Axl Rose returning, saying `So, I'll just try and wing this` while kicking a bass drum.
- Frank Ferrer had been the band's drummer since 2006 before departing, and Isaac Carpenter's ties to Duff McKagan's Loaded add continuity amid lineup shifts as Slash recently hinted at new Guns N' Roses activity.
