Greater Toronto home sales up 9.4% in June as board predicts price growth could come
TRREB said tighter inventory lifted sales, while condominium weakness and broader regional declines kept benchmark prices down.
The Greater Toronto Area saw home sales rise 9.4 per cent year-over-year in June, with 6,770 homes changing hands through the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board's MLS system.
New listings fell 12.9 per cent to 17,282 in June, while overall inventory dropped 13.5 per cent as 27,329 active listings remained across the GTA.
Benchmark home prices hit $940,800, down 5.39 per cent from June 2025, while York Region experienced a steeper 7.3 per cent decline to $1,101,200.
TRREB president Daniel Steinfeld noted a "marked improvement" in second-quarter activity, predicting increased competition and transactions could ultimately drive renewed price growth.
Mercer, TRREB's chief information officer, stated annual price declines have eased over recent months and tightening conditions could eventually lead to selling price increases.
