Groups plan picnic to highlight Sauk Trail’s role in Underground Railroad

The free event will include an optional hike to the former McCoy Homestead and a noon presentation by Underground Railroad researcher Larry McClellan.

Sauk Trail, originally a Native American trail that ran through Illinois, Indiana and Michigan, was part of the Underground Railroad. A picnic near park Forest will celebrate it.
