Groningen still a candidate for new nuclear power plant

The Eemshaven in Groningen will be included in a location study for new nuclear power plants.

This is evident from a study by the CPB that was published today. Another striking conclusion: although cycle paths often take up space from traffic lanes, this does not lead to more traffic congestion for cars.

The Eemshaven in the north of Groningen remains a possible location for a new nuclear power plant. The government initially wanted to disregard this location, but is now reconsidering this. This is what climate minister Sophie Hermans writes in a letter to the House of Representatives. According to her, excluding the location is legally risky.
