Grizzlies Select Cameron Boozer with 3rd Pick in NBA Draft
Boozer averaged 22.5 points and won three major national awards in one season before joining a Grizzlies team that finished 26-56.
On Tuesday, the Memphis Grizzlies selected Duke forward Cameron Boozer with the third overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, marking the team's highest selection since drafting Ja Morant in 2019.
Boozer arrives after a stellar freshman season at Duke, averaging 22.5 points and 10.2 rebounds while sweeping the Naismith, Wooden, and AP Player of the Year awards and leading the Blue Devils to a 35-3 record.
Cameron is the son of Carlos Boozer, a two-time All-Star and 13-year NBA veteran, and joins a Grizzlies roster recovering from a 26-56 season that included losing 21 of their final 23 games.
Alongside 7-foot-3 center Zach Edey, drafted ninth in 2024, and Cedric Coward, the 11th selection a year ago, Boozer forms the foundation for Memphis' latest rebuilding project.
Despite suffering facial and orbital fractures during the Elite Eight, Boozer brings needed toughness to the rebuild; "I'm just going through the healing process," he said during his news conference.
