Grim discovery at children’s playground

  • On Friday, Victoria Police discovered a man's body at the Bruny Drive Park Playground in Tarneit, linking the death to an alleged kidnapping from a South Morang home invasion hours earlier.
  • Multiple male offenders armed with machetes forced entry into a Darius Terrace home in South Morang at 3 am, assaulting a 30-year-old man before dragging him into a vehicle and fleeing.
  • While another man and two children were inside the home during the assault, they remained uninjured. Homicide Squad detectives are investigating if a vehicle destroyed by fire in Eynesbury is linked to the incident.
  • Detective Inspector Dean Thomas stated the offending appears "somewhat targeted," adding, "It's too early to say that this is related to bikies." Detectives are seeking dashcam footage from the area.
  • Investigations remain ongoing with no arrests made as a post-mortem will determine the victim's cause of death. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
