Grim discovery at children’s playground
On Friday, Victoria Police discovered a man's body at the Bruny Drive Park Playground in Tarneit, linking the death to an alleged kidnapping from a South Morang home invasion hours earlier.
Multiple male offenders armed with machetes forced entry into a Darius Terrace home in South Morang at 3 am, assaulting a 30-year-old man before dragging him into a vehicle and fleeing.
While another man and two children were inside the home during the assault, they remained uninjured. Homicide Squad detectives are investigating if a vehicle destroyed by fire in Eynesbury is linked to the incident.
Detective Inspector Dean Thomas stated the offending appears "somewhat targeted," adding, "It's too early to say that this is related to bikies." Detectives are seeking dashcam footage from the area.
Investigations remain ongoing with no arrests made as a post-mortem will determine the victim's cause of death. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
