Greens senator Jordon Steele-John says he has been falsely accused of inappropriate conduct
An internal probe and a separate standards referral are under way after seven Greens members raised multiple complaints about Steele-John’s conduct toward women.
On Sunday, Greens Senator Jordon Steele-John posted a near 2,400-word statement denying misconduct allegations spanning 2017 to 2025 and publicly disputed Greens leader David Shoebridge's claim that he is on leave.
A letter from seven Greens members to Shoebridge last week outlined multiple allegations about the senator's behaviour in the presence of women, prompting an independent investigation into the claims.
Reports revealed a 47-page "secret dossier" from 2016 cataloguing historical allegations and media strategies. Steele-John claimed the document was intended to protect two women involved in an earlier interpersonal conflict.
Steele-John denied sexual assault allegations, stating police investigations closed without charges. He accused an "unofficial faction" of weaponising rumours to influence upcoming party preselections.
Independent investigations by the WA Greens and the Independent Parliamentary Standards Commission are underway, though officials face jurisdictional challenges examining conduct predating the October 14, 2024 code of conduct.
