Known for his pragmatism and praised by many political figures, Jacques Witkowski is the new prefect of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Portrait of a man who will have work on the stage.
The position had been vacant since Georges-François Leclerc's departure on 20 October, which was a problem given the extremely dense news in Paca and particularly in Marseille.
Just prior to the meeting on narcobanditism held on Tuesday 18 November in Elysée, the former gendarmerie was appointed prefect of a department particularly targeted by drug-related violence.
Named head of the Paca region, Jacques Witkowski arrives in Marseilles with the mission to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking, a few days after the murder called a "bullying crime" that upset the city.
According to La Lettre, the Head of State Emmanuel Macron has accelerated the appointment of Georges-François Leclerc's replacement, who has been in office since November 10 as Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic. The rumour left early this Tuesday morning, 18 November, of an online publication made by the specialized news site La Lettre, ex-Letter A: "Emmanuel Macron appoints the prefect Jacques Witkowski for the anti-narcos battle in Marseille.
