Governor Tony Evers' 400 Year Tax

Wisconsin’s partial veto has produced some of the most extraordinary examples of executive power in the country. In 2023, Gov. Tony Evers turned a two-year increase in school district revenue limits into one lasting until 2425 by striking just two digits and a hyphen. Now, Wisconsin voters will decide whether to rein in the governor’s veto pen by prohibiting the partial veto from being used to create or increase taxes and fees.
