Governor Patrick Morrisey launched, on Sept. 25, 2026, Dolly Days Read-a-Thon to honor Dolly Parton, who helped found the Imagination Library reading program. CHARLESTON — West Virginia students in kindergarten through fifth grade will have an opportunity to participate in a statewide reading challenge beginning Oct. 1.

Governor Patrick Morrisey announces launch of statewide Dolly Days Read-A-thon challenge for K-5 students

The challenge begins October 1 and is open to all West Virginia students in grades kindergarten through 5th grade. Students will have until December 31 to read 25 books, an average of about two books a week. Students can track their progress using a paper reading log, available online or at participating public libraries. #WOAY
