Electoral debates shall be compulsory in the public media
On Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved a preliminary draft reform of the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (LOREG) to make it compulsory to hold at least one debate in the public media during each electoral campaign.
Government changes Electoral Law to force debate and surveyors to publish microdata
These measures are included in the so-called Action Plan for Democracy adopted by the Government in September 2024. The obligation to hold debates will not apply to the private media, but they must respect political pluralism and information neutrality.
