Google Search AI Is Under Fire After Safety Report Slams Its Safeguards (Update)

- The tools failed all five severe-harm "Red Lines" and completed 100% of hypothetical homework assignments; responses differed 43% of the time, with 29% of citations from unverified social media forums.
- Google spokesperson Davis Thompson disputed the findings in an email, claiming the report tested "a narrow set of ambiguous and contrived queries that don't reflect how people use Search."
- Former US Education Secretary John King Jr. called the systemic integration deeply concerning for youth well-being, noting schools and parents currently lack the ability to disable these default AI tools.
