Google Just Announced Major AI Changes to Gmail. Here's What's Coming
Google introduces Gemini 3 AI features including AI Inbox and Help Me Write to enhance Gmail with personalized summaries and smart email drafting for over 3 billion users.
- On Thursday, Google announced new Gemini-powered features for Gmail, including Suggested Replies, AI Overviews, Help Me Write, Proofread, and a redesigned AI Inbox targeting free users.
- Internal and public surveys indicate 85% of Gmail users find AI useful, 92% of knowledge workers aged 22-39 want AI personalization, and 70% of enterprise users choose Help Me Write suggestions.
- During the briefing, Google demonstrated the AI Inbox offering suggested to-dos, a 'catch-me-up' list, links to surfaced emails, one-click changes with undo, and demo examples like shoe sizes and a Legoland pass.
- Google will roll the features out in the United States with English support, AI Overviews and Proofread will require premium Gemini subscriptions, while AI Inbox is limited to Trusted Testers and expands later this year.
