Goldman Sachs to Acquire NEOS in $2.25B ETF Deal

The deal adds 19 options-based income ETFs and lifts Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s ETF assets beyond $130 billion, the bank said.

  • Goldman Sachs Group Inc. announced on Wednesday, August 12, an agreement to acquire NEOS Investments for up to $2.25 billion, expanding the bank's actively managed exchange-traded fund platform.
  • Based in Westport, Connecticut, NEOS has built 19 systematic options-based income ETFs since its 2022 launch, specializing in funds tied to the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, and high-yield bonds.
  • Once the purchase closes, Goldman Sachs Asset Management will hold total ETF assets exceeding $130 billion. Goldman placed NEOS assets at approximately $30 billion, while Bloomberg estimated the firm reached about $32 billion.
  • Co-Founders Troy Cates and Garrett Paolella will become partners at Goldman Sachs Asset Management when the deal closes in the first quarter of 2027. Most operating teams are also expected to join the bank.
  • The deal follows Goldman's December 2025 acquisition of Innovator Capital Management, which managed $28 billion. Goldman is also exploring active cryptocurrency-linked products, including a proposed Bitcoin Premium Income ETF.
