India Rejects OIC Remarks on Jammu and Kashmir, Questions Its Credibility
The MEA said the OIC gave Pakistan a platform for propaganda and urged it to focus on terrorism from areas under Islamabad’s control.
- On Wednesday, India's Ministry of External Affairs rejected "unwarranted and factually incorrect" references to Jammu and Kashmir in a joint communiqué released by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Contact Group at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
- During the meeting, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar urged OIC members to prioritize Kashmir, while the Contact Group reaffirmed support for Kashmiri self-determination and implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.
- The MEA emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are "integral and inalienable" parts of India, stating the OIC has "no locus standi to pronounce on matters that are strictly internal to India."
- Criticizing the OIC for providing a platform to Pakistan's "fabricated and motivated propaganda," the MEA advised the organization to "counsel Pakistan" to address terrorism emanating from its own territories.
- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan raised the Kashmir issue during his Tuesday UNGA address, continuing a pattern New Delhi previously deemed "completely unacceptable" amid strained ties following the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.
