Gluten-Free Flour, Baking Mixes Recalled Due to Wheat Gluten
Third-party testing found gluten in flour and mixes labeled gluten-free, and no adverse reactions have been reported, the FDA said.
- GF Blends is recalling Truly AIP All Purpose Flour, Bread Mix, and EAT G.A.N.G.S.T.E.R. Flat Bread Pizza Mix due to undeclared wheat gluten found during independent testing. Products were distributed nationwide through online retailers until September 12.
- The company stated all three products were made with plantain flour from supplier PMF Global labeled as certified gluten-free. Independent testing identified gluten in the ingredient, with levels significantly exceeding the FDA's 20 parts per million limit.
- Affected items include Truly AIP All Purpose Flour , Truly AIP Bread Mix , and EAT G.A.N.G.S.T.E.R. Flat Bread Pizza Mix . Lot numbers and best-by dates appear on each package.
- "People who have celiac disease or a severe gluten intolerance run the risk of adverse health effects or allergic reactions if they consume these products," the news release stated. No illnesses have been reported as of September 17.
- Consumers with questions may contact GF Blends at 509-375-0909 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday. The company is notifying customers and arranging replacements for items distributed through September 12.
