Study Finds GLP-1 Drugs May Raise Testosterone in Men With Obesity
A review of five clinical trials found the drugs may improve testosterone, sperm quality and metabolic health in men with obesity-related low testosterone.
A study found that GLP-1 drugs, which treat diabetes and aid weight loss, may raise testosterone and improve sperm count and quality in men with obesity over 24 weeks.
The study showed increased testosterone levels and related hormones, improved sperm shape, and better cholesterol levels with GLP-1 treatment in men with obesity and low testosterone.
While promising, larger studies are still needed to fully understand the effects of GLP-1 drugs on male fertility, as the observed benefits are likely indirect results of weight loss and improved metabolic health.
