The 11th Kyushu Junior High School Table Tennis Championships opened on the 18th at Nurse Power Arena, with boys' and girls' team competitions taking place. The best result for a Kumamoto Prefecture team was third place for Ogawa's girls' team. Ogawa's girls' team won their second-round match against Tsurushiro, another Kumamoto team, 3-2, and then defeated Nagasaki Seido 3-1 in the quarterfinals.
