Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after 17-year-old girl stabbed in neck
Police said the girl’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and officers are seeking witnesses and CCTV footage.
Armed Lancashire Police responded on Friday to reports of a 17-year-old girl stabbed in the neck on Wood Street in Brierfield, deploying officers to the scene.
Officers arrested a 30-year-old man shortly after the incident on suspicion of attempted murder as a large police cordon was established across the street.
The victim is receiving hospital treatment for a stab wound to the back of her neck; her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police initiated extra patrols in the area this evening to provide community reassurance, acknowledging that "this will cause alarm in the local community."
