Klingenthal will not compete with Oberwiesenthal to host the Nordic Skiing World Championships in 2031.
The German Ski Association will compete with Oberstdorf to host the 2031 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, for which they and Planica have also submitted their candidacy to the Slovenian Ski Association. The decision was made after a vote in which the Saxony Ski Association temporarily postponed its World Championship ambitions due to reduced preparation time.
