German Shepherd Kills Bobcat Believed to Have Attacked Multiple People in Arizona
Authorities said the same bobcat may have been involved in at least four attacks before a German Shepherd killed it while protecting its owner.
- A German Shepherd killed a bobcat in Prescott, Arizona, after the animal attacked its owner on Monday morning, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. Deputies suspect this bobcat was involved in four attacks across the weekend.
- The first incident occurred Sunday around 6 p.m. near Inscription Canyon. A second attack happened Monday morning near Greenbrier Drive and Williamson Valley Road, about seven miles away from the initial location.
- Three victims sustained cuts and bites requiring hospital treatment. The dog was injured during the encounter and is receiving care from a veterinarian, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office confirmed.
- The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office warns this behavior is extremely rare for bobcats. Officials stated, "This serves as a serious reminder NEVER TO FEED WILDLIFE."
- YCSO is investigating a fourth reported incident involving a dog in the Williamson Valley area. Anyone whose pet was attacked last weekend should contact the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
