Union Budget Will Be Presented on Feb 1: Speaker
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget at 11 am during the parliamentary session starting Jan 28, as announced by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
- On February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget at 11 am in the House, Om Birla said at a press conference today.
- The Budget session of Parliament begins on January 28 with President Droupadi Murmu addressing both Houses, while the Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth runs January 14 to 16.
- India is hosting the 28th CSPOC with record participation, attended by 61 Speakers and Presiding Officers including the Presidents of the IPU and the CPA, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate on January 15 in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan.
- Organisers say the event will showcase India's technological progress with paperless operations supported by an app and a web-based event management system.
- There will be no participation from Pakistan and Bangladesh does not have a Speaker currently because general elections are scheduled next month, while CSPOC was created in 1969 by Lucien Lamoureux and Canada provides its secretariat.
