Recall for Power Pressure Washers Expanded over Self-Start Fears, CPSC Says
Generac said 16,260 units are affected after six reports of self-starting, and consumers should stop using them and get a free repair.
On Thursday, May 14, Generac Power Systems expanded a recall of 16,260 electric-start pressure washers after reports the machines can self-start, creating severe carbon monoxide poisoning risks in confined spaces.
The Wisconsin-based company previously recalled 53,000 units in April 2022, addressing malfunctions in the electronic start/stop button powered by a rechargeable battery that could trigger unwanted activation.
Affected models include G0089111, G0088941, G0088951, and DPW3109DEN, sold at Amazon, Home Depot, and Menards from November 2021 through February 2026 for between $500 and $590.
Consumers should immediately stop using the electronic-start feature and contact Generac to arrange a free repair, though units remain functional using the manual pull-start option if the battery is removed.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission confirmed the company received six reports of units self-starting, though no injuries or property damage have been reported to date.
