The electricity system operator is stepping up its fight against piracy of communicating meters, a phenomenon which has been growing rapidly for three years.
These frauds have exploded since 2022 with the increase in the cost of energy but also due to the distribution on social networks of videos with techniques to reduce its consumption by manipulating Linky housings, according to Enedis.

Enedis, the electricity system manager, has launched a punch-up operation against the fraud at Linky meters. Faced with more than 100,000 cases trafficked since 2022 – a scourge that amounts to hundreds of millions of euros a year, the company is stepping up controls and plans to double its sworn agents.
