Friesland Goes to Court to Stop Gas Extraction in Akkrum

The province of Friesland is taking legal action to try to stop gas extraction around the village of Akkrum. The province, acting partly on behalf of Wetterskip Fryslân and seven affected municipalities, has lodged an appeal against the permit granted to the company Vermilion by the ministry last year. Friesland had already lodged an objection at the time, but State Secretary Jo-Annes de Bat for Climate and Green Growth rejected it.
