European officials slammed Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico for his decision to travel to Moscow and attend the Russia’s Victory Day commemorations on May 9, the only European leader to attend.
At the Moscow Victory Parade, the Slovak Prime Minister is the only invited guest from the EU. On his way home, Fico explains how he imagines Europe's relations with Moscow in the future: as a normal and friendly, including oil deliveries.
As in the previous year, the Slovak Robert Fico travelled to Moscow to commemorate World War II – as the only EU head of government. He was generally welcomed in the Kremlin. There is criticism in his homeland.
