French Private Sector Growth Rebounds
The S&P Global Flash Composite Output Index rose to 51.2 from 48.5, as new orders increased for the first time in 10 months.
On Wednesday, France's private sector returned to growth in September, marking the fastest expansion in over two years as the S&P Global Flash France Composite Output Index reached 51.2.
Services provided the primary momentum, with The Flash France Services PMI Business Activity Index rising to 51.4 from 48.0, and new orders increasing for the first time in 10 months.
Despite the growth, companies reduced staff for a fifth successive month, while input costs and output charges rose at their fastest rates since May, fueled by higher energy and metal prices.
Joe Hayes, Senior Principal Economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence, noted the economy displayed resilience, though he cautioned that expansion durability remains questionable as firms' expectations deteriorated.
French companies reported their lowest optimism regarding year-ahead outlook since May, as higher interest rates, political uncertainty, and international competition continue to weigh on business confidence.
