Frankfort Man In Custody After Charges Of Threatening Gov. JB Pritzker: ISP
Timothy J. Shemitis faces felony and misdemeanor charges after leaving repeated threatening voicemails with racial epithets and violent calls for Illinois Governor Pritzker.
On March 18, 2026, Illinois State Police arrested Timothy J. Shemitis, a 71-year-old Frankfort resident, in connection with threats to Gov. JB Pritzker.
Authorities say the voicemails were left Feb. 28, 2026, on the governor's 'Voice an Opinion' line, and police were alerted March 3, 2026, after the Governor's Office received them.
Using its Inappropriate Contact and Communication protocol, Illinois State Police special agents investigated and arrested Shemitis after officials reported possible threats.
Will County State's Attorney's Office approved one Class 3 felony count and one Class B misdemeanor count; Shemitis appeared Wednesday, is due back Friday, and remains in custody at Will County Adult Detention Facility.
The complaint alleges the messages included obscene language and racial epithets, and ISP says it reviews communications, investigates threats, and offers security assessments when threats meet a criminal threshold.
