- Following a March podcast where Coppola said he is broke, he financed Megalopolis himself, which cost $120 million but grossed only $14.4 million worldwide.
- Paul Boutros, deputy chairman and head of watches, Americas at Phillips, praised the watch as a major creative collaboration, while Phillips reported worldwide interest and a record result in its New York saleroom.
- At the Cannes premiere, Coppola wore the watch, estimated at at least $1,000,000, and Phillips said it was thrilled by the result while Coppola said `I think it'll come back over 15 or 20 years, but I don't have it now.`
- The sale also sets a U.S. auction benchmark, marking the highest price for a timepiece since Phillips' Paul Newman’s Rolex `Paul Newman` Daytona and showing strong global demand.
