According to Challenge magazine, the French army ordered a first batch of suicide drones from the European missile manufacturer MBDA and the aeronautical designer Aviation Design L
The Directorate-General for Armaments (DGA) has formalized the order of its first long-range teleoperative munitions from the French industrial tandem MBDA and Aviation Design. Capable of hitting more than 500 kilometres to saturate the opposing defences, this "diesel drone" designed to be produced in mass will be delivered to the armed forces by mid-2027.
The French Army has ordered an initial batch of One Way Effector (OWE) drones from MBDA and its partner Aviation Design. The weekly magazine "Challenges" reports this, explaining that these models are similar to the Iranian Shahed and Russian Geran drones. The order, placed by the Ministry of Defense's General Armaments Directorate (DGA), represents a "key step in France's recovery in a rapidly expanding sector," the newspaper states.
