Fox with rabies bites Atmore resident

The Alabama Department of Public Health says a fox with rabies attacked and bit an Atmore resident outside their home earlier this week. Another person was present at the time of the incident and came in direct physical contact with the animal. The fox was taken to the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories, where it was confirmed positive for rabies. ADPH says rabies is a viral disease that can be fatal if untreated.
