Watters said early returns point to a Democratic night, making Trump’s promised $5,000 payout to adults look unlikely.
Before polls closed on Tuesday, Fox News host Jesse Watters admitted on-air that he expects Republicans to lose their majority in the midterm elections.
Despite President Donald Trump completing a 30-day rally tour to boost Republican candidates, public polling showed Republicans trailing in states from Maine to Iowa.
Watters noted that Democrats presented "three major problems" to Trump: the economy, illegal immigration, and crime, claiming Trump failed to address the economy, "the big kahuna."
On-Air, Watters told co-host Martha MacCallum he doubts American voters will receive the promised $5,000 checks if Republicans lose control of the House and Senate.
Democrats need to flip three seats in the House and four seats in the Senate to win the majority, while Watters characterized Trump's trade war with Canada and actions against Iran as "big gambles.
