Four ex-Carabinieros from the Sierra Gorda Retén were held in pretrial detention, while two other subjects were subject to the national precautionary measure and were prohibited from approaching the police centre, after they were formalized by an investigation by the Antofagasta Public Prosecutor's Office together with the Carabineros Internal Affairs Section (Saicar) for being suspected of the crime of bribery while performing their duties.
The officials, immediately discharged by Carabineros, were formalized for the crime of bribery, four of them with the preventive measure of pretrial detention and two with national roots and prohibition of approaching the detention where they worked.
An investigation by the Prosecutor ' s Office of Antofagasta, together with the Internal Affairs Section of Carabineros (SAICAR) of Antofagasta, led to the arrest of six former officials of that institution, for their alleged involvement in unlawful acts committed while serving in the Sierra Gorda Retén.
