In Uganda's Kidepo Valley National Park, poachers killed the last rhino in 1983. More than 40 years after the species became extinct in Uganda, the first two representatives have now been reintroduced there, and together with six others, they will ensure the restoration of the population.
During the 20th century, rhinos were hunted to the death by poachers.
