Fort Worth officer fatally shoots man police say pointed gun at them
On Saturday, Fort Worth police investigated two fatal officer-involved shootings occurring hours apart in East Fort Worth, with Fort Worth Police Chief Eddie Garcia confirming both suspects died at the scene.
FWPD East Division officers responded to the 4200 block of Wiman Drive at approximately 12:05 a.m. after multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots, then encountered an armed individual who ignored commands to drop his weapon.
Around 4:15 a.m., while investigating the initial scene, a white SUV drove by multiple times at high speed; after a 15-minute pursuit, police stopped the vehicle using a "PIT maneuver" near I-820 and Lancaster Ave.
One officer sustained an injury during the second confrontation and was transported to a local hospital in good condition, though the department said it was "unknown at this point how the officer was injured."
Detectives from the Major Case unit are actively investigating both shootings; the Fort Worth Police Department seeks information at 392-4222 or anonymous tips via Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 469-8477.
