Video Shows Car Crashing Through Fort Worth Backyard Fence, Narrowly Missing Toddler in Pool
Police said the driver was cited for reckless driving after the crash nearly struck a 2-year-old and two other children in the yard.
On Sunday, a car crashed through a fence into a Fort Worth backyard, narrowly missing three children playing in a pool. Police cited the 22-year-old driver for reckless driving.
The Van Dusen family stated their two-year-old was inches from the vehicle as it struck their fence on Heritage Trace Parkway. They called it a "terrifying reminder" of reckless driving.
Fort Worth Councilman Charlie Lauersdorf surveyed the damage and requested increased police speed details for the area. He asked the Director of Transportation and Public Works to assess installing a stop sign within 30 days.
The Van Dusen family called the $200 fine "unacceptable," stating such dangerous behavior should carry stronger penalties. They intend to push for stronger local laws and ordinances.
Neighbor Toni Gunter reported constant speeding on Heritage Trace Parkway, questioning whether officials will implement effective measures. "I just don't know if they're really going to do anything that will stop it," Gunter said.
