Former X Factor contestant Chico denies drink driving
- Today at Willesden Magistrates' Court, Chico, stage name for Yousseph Slimani, pleaded not guilty to drink-driving charges.
- Accused of drink-driving in Chase Way, Southgate on December 13, Slimani allegedly recorded 40 microgrammes per 100 millilitres on a breath test, above the 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres legal limit.
- The 54-year-old finished fifth on the 2005 series of The X Factor and later achieved chart success with the number one single It's Chico Time.
- Defence lawyer Sarah King said Slimani had taken cough medicine before the breath test, and Slimani was granted bail until his trial on April 9.
- A spokesperson for Mary Stevens Hospice said, `We just want to assure everyone that there is no risk to The Mary Stevens Hospice pantomime, and that it will be going ahead in February 2026.
