Ex-'Teacher of the Year,' Assistant Principal Arrested on Child Sex Charges
Police charged the former Ocean Springs educator with sexual battery and child enticement after a school district tip led to an internal investigation.
On July 23, authorities arrested Olivia Marie after she was charged with sexual battery and enticement of a child to meet for sexual purposes, according to WLOX-TV in Mississippi.
The Ocean Springs School District received a tip about potential inappropriate behavior and immediately notified the Ocean Springs Police Department and Mississippi Child Protective Services, launching an internal investigation.
Smith was employed as a teacher at Ocean Springs Middle School and won "Teacher of the Year" in 2022, while also serving recently as assistant principal at Oak Park Elementary.
During a probable cause hearing on July 23, a judge set bond at $50,000 for each charge against the former educator following the arrest.
