- Satya Pal Malik, the former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, passed away on August 5, 2025, in Delhi after battling a long illness.
- Malik began his political career in the 1970s with Charan Singh's Bharatiya Kranti Dal and later joined Congress, Jan Morcha, Janata Dal, and BJP over five decades.
- He served as MLA from Baghpat, twice as Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh, Lok Sabha MP from Aligarh , and governor of Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, and Meghalaya.
